About Emma.
Well hi there. I’m Emma.
I’m really looking forward to sharing my love of yoga with you.
I teach a style of yoga designed for busy people living in this hectic modern world, who are looking to spend some time working on both their physical and mental well being.
While I’m a big believer in the benefits of mindfulness and presence that yoga provides, I find people are able to discover this on their own through the mind-body connection they achieve in their yoga practice. Therefore I stay away from voicing the more spiritual aspects of yoga in class. I use the English names for all the poses and keep things fairly practical, focusing on the physical sensations and cues that will help you feel comfortable and confident in class.
I’m fully qualified, certified and insured to teach both in person and online. I’ve trained to teach Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Hatha and Yin Yoga and pull on aspects of all of these to design my classes.
I live in Wimbledon with my dog Mable and teach both in person in Wimbledon as well as online.
I was a teacher before I was a yogi
In a previous life, I was a Secondary School English Teacher. I have a masters level qualification in pedagogy - the study of teaching and learning.
This has deeply affected my style of yoga teaching, as I prioritise your understanding, confidence and progress before anything else. I don’t use words that require interpretation. I explain why we are doing things, how we are doing things, and how it should feel.
My goal is to empower you to make the right decisions for your body, so that you feel confident in what you are doing.
I also want to see you make progress and help you achieve the satisfaction of doing things you haven’t done before, or things you thought you wouldn’t be able to do again.
